Johan Wahlbom appointed Counsel to the EU & Competition practice
Career news|February 4, 2025
The arrival of merger control expert Johan Wahlbom strengthens our EU & Competition team in Stockholm. The appointment reflects the growing demand to address various complex competition-related matters.
Johan Wahlbom’s extensive experience and broad expertise are significant assets for our clients. Johan adds strong merger control and competition litigation capabilities to our team, having joined Roschier from the Swedish Competition Authority (SCA), where he was Senior Case Manager for merger control and engaged in high-profile court cases. Prior to that, he worked at another Swedish law firm for some 10 years. Johan’s arrival further strengthens the firm’s cross-border pool of senior experts in our team in Stockholm. His appointment follows the announcement of Emma Johansson’s promotion to Partner last week.
“I am thrilled to welcome Johan to our team. We have a strong reputation for advising clients on the entire spectrum of competition-related matters, and Johan’s unique experience and insight from the SCA will significantly expand the level of service to our clients,” says Kristian Hugmark, head of Roschier’s EU & Competition practice. “The recruitment of Johan and the partner election of Emma Johansson just last week are a testament to the growth of our practice of top-end competition matters, which in turn is the result of the hard work of the team in both Finland and Sweden. With Johan on board, we all look forward to developing our offering to further meet our clients’ future needs.”
Roschier’s cross-border EU & Competition practice advises leading companies on complex EU and competition law matters, including cartels and abuse of dominance cases, merger control and other M&A-related matters, and private enforcement. The team also has significant experience of FDI and protective security approval, IP-related competition law, state aid and public procurement matters, as well as sector-specific EU regulation. The practice is top ranked by all major ranking publications such as WWL, GCR100, Chambers, The Legal 500, and Kantar Prospera.
