Roschier expands its service offerings in the field of public procurement

The firm's Public Procurement team strengthens its expertise in large procurement projects by welcoming a new lawyer.

Public procurement is an essential part of business in many industries, and the financial interests at stake are often considerable. In response to increasing demand for strategic legal advice in this field, Roschier has added senior public procurement expert Juhani Matinlassi to its Public Procurement practice in Helsinki.

Juhani Matinlassi has impressive experience of managing large procurement projects – from planning, coordination, negotiation and implementation in procurement units to court litigation at the national and EU level. During his career, Juhani has worked for the Finnish Defence Forces, the Ministry of Justice, the Market Court, and the Finnish Competition and Consumer Authority (FCCA), gaining a comprehensive understanding of public procurement procedures from a variety of sectors and angles.

“We are very happy to welcome Juhani to our team. His versatile experience of public procurement from both sides of the table will serve our clients especially well,” comments Niko Hukkinen, Partner and Head of Roschier’s Public Procurement practice in Finland. “Lately, we have also seen increased supervisory activity from the FCCA in procurement matters, and further actions may be expected. This will call for increased attention by parties involved in public procurement,” Hukkinen adds.

“I am excited about the opportunity to join Roschier and its dedicated team of advisors. The firm’s continuous focus on developing its services has impressed me, and I look forward to contributing to the success of the firm and its clients with my experience of public procurement and other competition law matters,” Juhani Matinlassi says.

Roschier’s cross-border Public Procurement practice offers solutions in all public procurement related matters and supports clients not only in the public procurement process itself, but also by advising on related areas such as ICT, competition, intellectual property, and regulatory issues. The team was recently ranked among the best on the market by clients in the Prospera Tier1 Law Firm Review Finland 2018.
