Roschier joins forces with SILTA to promote entrepreneurship through startup ventures

Roschier has partnered with SILTA to promote entrepreneurship and innovation in Finland. SILTA is a non-profit initiative that helps startup companies in their first steps and provides a valuable network for future growth. The SILTA spring program 2024 offers support to five promising Finnish startups selected by SILTA from 60 applications, including hands-on guidance and a legal sparring camp arranged by Roschier to address the most fundamental legal issues in the early stages when scaling a startup into a thriving enterprise.
Coordinated by one of the partners in our Emerging Companies practice, Arto Linnervuo, the SILTA program is a way for Roschier to make another concrete impact in the startup ecosystem. “This partnership represents another step towards our goal of fostering entrepreneurship,” he says. As a responsible member of society, Roschier is committed to supporting emerging businesses and helping founders with promising ideas to take the first steps on their journey, thus contributing to the important ecosystem for the future growth of the Finnish economy and cultivating success stories,” says Linnervuo.
Expressing enthusiasm for the collaboration, Program Lead from SILTA, Lauri Pelkonen, says, “We are thrilled to announce our partnership with Roschier, the leading law firm in the Nordic region. We are convinced that they will support our founders to build globally successful companies by ensuring they have the necessary legal groundwork from day one.” Lauri and Arto will work together to ensure the selected startups receive optimal support for their ventures.
As part of the program, startups are sent to the San Francisco Bay area for three months. The aim of the stay is to give the companies a possibility to intensively develop their ideas and to have a fruitful exchange of thoughts with the local startup community – and to grow important networks.
At the launch of this year’s SILTA program, we had the opportunity to ask some of the startup founders for their thoughts on the program. The companies represent promising innovation in the field of health tech and AI.
“This is a great opportunity for us and as startups in general can’t afford to hire lawyers, we very much appreciate the advice we get from this program,” says Tuomas Toropainen from AIATELLA.
Annika Lundström from health tech company Reminded says the opportunity to get advice and support from the extensive startup network is particularly important, especially the technological aspects of building the product.
For Alicent the highlight of this program is the possibility to get to know the startup community in the US and to connect with the right people. “We see this program as a very helpful event for our startup. In San Francisco, our focus will be on creating a network and securing financing,” says Oscar Michellsson.
“I hope that my stay in San Francisco allows me to validate my business idea and is the start of a longer period out there” says Oscar Löfqvist from Stealth Startup.
